As more and more residents are preparing to Stay Home and weather this unprecedented situation, Trestle has included useful resources and reminders below for community association residents.
In many community associations, both direct and indirect interactions with other residents is nearly unavoidable. For their safety, residents are encouraged to take proper precautions when accessing public spaces as advised by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Spaces including but not limited to shared lobbies and hallways, entry doors, trash and recycling receptacles, mailboxes and elevators may be accessed by countless residents and as a result, pose a higher risk of exposure to COVID-19. When utilizing these spaces and elements, residents should take steps to protect themselves as recommended by the CDC and World Health Organization (WHO). Residents are encouraged to adhere to social distancing guidelines as outlined by the Washington State Department of Health and avoid crowding in public spaces with people other than members of their household. When possible, residents should avoid congregating in elevators, hallways, or other shared spaces. For their safety, all community members are encouraged to thoroughly wash their hands and disinfect anything touched in their home after interacting with shared spaces.
The Use of “Flushable” Wipes and Other Toilet Paper Replacements
Due to an increased demand and subsequent shortage of toilet paper, many public utilities and community associations are seeing increased use of non-flushable materials such as baby wipes, napkins, and paper towels. Flushing wipes, even those marketed as “flushable” and other non-toilet paper materials commonly causes clogs, backups, equipment and pipe breakages, and can even force raw sewage back into peoples’ homes. As all community members work to maintain a safe environment in their homes, now more than ever, it is imperative that residents avoid unnecessary damage and service calls. To prevent pipe clogs and backups, community members should refrain from flushing anything other than toilet paper down the toilet(s) in their home.
Continued Compliance Enforcement
Community associations are tasked with equal and equitable governing document enforcement. As such, enforcement within communities will continue unchanged at this time. As always, there are appeals and/or hearing procedures in place for owners who believe they may have received a compliance notice in error. Residents should review the rules for their community, by logging into your homeowner portal at: https://www.trestlecm.com/my-community/, to ensure that their home is in compliance. Maintaining Respectful Noise Levels
With more residents home throughout the day, it is essential that all community members work to maintain a comfortable and peaceful environment for themselves and their neighbors. Residents are encouraged to ensure that the occupants of their home understand the importance of being mindful of the noise they create. All community members are encouraged to make an active effort to be respectful of their neighbors at this time, and always.
